Painter Gandy Brodie was active in the New York art scene and led a painting school in Vermont. He died young. The manager of his estate and his gallery, Steven Harvey Fine Art, both wanted to make his work and life accessible to a wider public. The site is designed to serve the general public as well as curators, researchers and potential buyers of his paintings.
I worked closely with the manager of his estate to come up with the site architecture and built it in squarespace. https://www.gandybrodie.com/
Showcasing His Work
The estate manager organized Brodie’s many paintings and drawings into six categories: Still Life, Landscape, The City, Flowers, Animals, People, and we built a page for each, allowing people to browse freely.
Making His Archive Accessible
An important goal for the site was to make documents from Brodie’s archive and bibliography available to researchers and others.
